Message from your counselor...
Dear Students,
Please know that I miss all of you and hope that you are staying safe. I know that this can be confusing and scary time for some of you. Know that your parents, teachers, and administrators are doing all we can to keep you safe. There are many resources to help you continue learning while at home. Those will be found on SAISD Playground. During these times focus on the positives in your life.
Just remember to:
- cough or sneeze into a tissue and throw the tissue away right away
- wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
- rest, exercise, and eat healthy to help keep your body strong

Quiero sepan que los extraño mucho a todos y espero que se mantengan a saludables. Sé que este tiempo puede ser confuso y puede causar ansiedad para algunos de ustedes. Sepan que sus padres, maestros y administradores estamos haciendo todo lo posible para mantenerlos seguros. Hay muchos recursos para ayudarles a seguir aprendiendo mientras están en casa. Zentangles
Students,
This week we are learning ways to calm down. Another way to calm down and clear your mind is making one of these Zentangle. They will help you clear your mind and refocus.

Zentangle is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns.
Almost anyone can use it to create beautiful images. It increases focus and creativity, provides artistic satisfaction along with an increased sense of personal well being. The Zentangle method is enjoyed all over this world across a wide range of skills, interests and ages.
Easy steps to create!
1. Draw a rectangle or use your paper as the frame
2. Use a pen and a pencil. No eraser! If you make a “mistake,” turn it into something in your tangle.
3. Draw a “string” line (think of what a string looks like if you dropped it on your paper) or a zigzag line on your space.
4. Use your pen to fill in sections with tangles (see examples or come up with your own!). Tangles come from patterns we see in the world – from nature to man made items: a rubber stamp collection, the bottoms of your shoes, your clothes, the dining room chairs, fancy woodwork, your pantry, garage...great patterns are everywhere.
5. Use your pencil to shade your tangles.
6. Turn your page as you work!
7. Use text as an element within your tangle.
