End of the School Year Information
I know it's cliche to say "time flies," but this year has really flown by for me. My first year at Williams has been amazing, and I'm so blessed to be here. To the 6th graders who are leaving us, I've enjoyed working with you this year, and I wish you all the best as you head to Duran South. KEEP READING! To our 5th graders who will be with us one more year, I can't wait to see how you grow and mature as readers and students over the next year. As the year winds down, here a few important dates:
Friday, May 4th - Last day to check out books
Friday, May 11th - Last day to turn in all books or pay for lost books
If you have lost a library book, please see Mrs. Lee for the cost. All lost book fees must be paid before the end of the school year. The library will be closed the last two weeks of school for inventory.
Summer Reading Bingo!
Students who will be in 5th-6th grades NEXT year, make sure you have a summer reading form. This fun bingo style activity encourages you to read a variety of books in some unique ways. If you complete at least 10 of the squares on the bingo card, you may turn it in during the first week of school in August and be entered to win an Amazon.com gift card! The winners (one for each grade) will be randomly drawn from all students who turn in their forms by the deadline of Friday, August 10th. One gift card will be awarded to one randomly drawn winner in each grade. The form may be downloaded from our web site: williamspclibrary.weebly.com. If you have questions, e-mail Mrs. Lee.
Blackout Poetry!
April is National Poetry Month, and in celebration, 6th graders in Mrs. Price and Mrs. Rhinehart's classes participated in a blackout poetry activity. Blackout poetry involves taking a page of a discarded book and using the words on the page to create an original poem and then decorating the page with artwork related to the poem. Students then volunteered to share their creations with the class. Fifth graders will participate in this activity in a few weeks.
