Wireless Communication Devices
Last week in your child's backpack, you should have found a packet of information regarding wireless communication devices. The packet included a letter from me, po5136 regarding wireless communication devices and a blank copy of the student cell phone contract. As you are aware, at Viera Elementary we keep wireless communication devices turned off and in student backpacks. We will be continuing this practice. You will find a copy of Board Policy regarding wireless communication devices as well as the student cell phone contract. All students who carry a wireless device to school must have one of these contracts on file in the front office. If your child has recently received a wireless device, please ensure that this is filled out and returned to school promptly. Smart watches may be worn to school for the purpose of a watch only. Students are not permitted to use their watch for any other reason than to tell time. If you should have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at 321-350-8691. Have a great weekend!
Lego and STEM Dates
Lego Club every Wednesday starting tomorrow, 3/8
Remaining Primary STEM Club: 3/22, 4/5, 4/19
BPS Parent Survey
Parents are invited to participate in the Brevard Public Schools parent survey. The survey will be available in English and Spanish to all parents on Monday, February 27th through Friday, March 10th.
óParents can access this survey online at: https://www.brevardschools.org/2023ParentSurvey
Please complete this online survey from home on your home computer or on your smartphone. Paper copies are available for families with limited electronic access.
By completing this survey, you will help us serve each of our students at Viera Elementary with excellence.
A summary of the parent survey results will be reported and posted on the BPS website. Survey results and comments will guide school improvement efforts and be used to meet the diverse needs of Brevard students and families.

Root of the Week
Root of the Week: Word Superstars. Each week we will share a new root on the morning announcements. Students are encouraged to use words with this root. In fact, if teachers or staff catch a student using a word with the root, they can give them a ticket. They can fill out the ticket and put it in the box that will be in the cafeteria. At the end of the week we will draw five tickets out to recognize our Word Superstars. They will receive a special spirit tag that says “Word of the Week Superstar”.
This week’s root is “hydr” which means water

Lunch with your Student
Beginning, the week of September 6, parents will be able to eat lunch on campus with their child one day a week. This will be each Wednesday and spots will be limited, so parents must sign up in advance at https://signup.com/go/hefokio. Additionally, there are some guidelines which must be followed to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone on campus:
- · Parents must be on time for their child’s scheduled lunch time.
- · Parents must communicate with their child’s teacher that they will be coming to lunch on that day.
- · Parents must sign in at the front office and then will be escorted to the cafeteria to meet their child if they are not a registered volunteer.
- · There will be a designated table that the parent and student will sit at, this will not be with the class.
- · Parents may only have lunch with their child, no exceptions will be allowed.
- · While having lunch with your child, no cameras or phones taking pictures are permitted to protect the privacy of other students and families.
- · We strongly encourage younger siblings to stay home as we will have limited seating available.
- · Visitors/Volunteers are expected to dress appropriately when visiting campus.
- · Once your child’s lunch is over, they will promptly join their class to dismiss. Parents are not able to follow their child/the class back to the classroom and will sign out in the front office.
