Early Days
Jonas Salk was born on October 8,1914 in New York City to two Jewish parents. Jonas' parents got divorce when he was 4 he lived with his dad poor. Jonas' education was very inmortant to his parents they encouraged him in his studies. He has one sibling Lee Stalk! Stalk played the violin at the age of 5 years old and loved it he played till he was in high school!!!!
School
Jonas Salk went to high school at New York High School and graduated at age 19 and attended New York University School of Medicine ,later choosing to do medical research instead of becoming a practicing physician. In 1938 Jonas began working with microbiologists Thomas Francis, Jr. He got his bachelors degree in science. He went to earn his M.D. from New York University in 1939. In 1947, Salk took a position at University of Pittsburg were he began conducing research in polio, also known as Infantile Paralysis.

Career
In 1963 Jonas' first lab set up in temporary buildings the five original Resident Fellows, in additional Jonas moved to San Diego: selected, Jacob Bronowsk;, Melvin Cohn, Renato Pulbecco, Edwin Lennox, and Leslie Orgel. In 1966 first laboratories in the new north buildings are occupied.
