Student Led Conferences

Tuesday, March 22nd, 4pm to Wednesday, March 23rd, 7:30pm

Mill Creek Classrooms

REMINDER: Our Spring Conferences will be led by students, therefore making student attendance mandatory. This gives each child the opportunity to own their work and share strengths and areas needing improvement with families. Each classroom will handle the scheduling of this a little bit differently, so be sure to look for information on this from your child’s teacher.

We will continue our practice of multiplication using various strategies. Ask your child to show you their thinking using these methods:

1. skip counting

2. number line

3. array (dot paper)

4. equal groups

5. finger counting

6. repeated addition

Early Explorers

Our unit of Early Explorers will begin this week. We will begin by learning associated vocabulary words and gaining a brief introduction to why explorers are so important in our world. Linked below is a presentation created to guide our learning through some of this unit.

International Connections

Ms. Nuelle’s class is also beginning our connection with the 2nd grade classroom in China. We wrote a class letter to the class and mailed out a Flat Stanley with the letter. All of 2nd grade is very eager to learn more through these international students in the city of Shekou in the Peoples Republic of China just north of Hong Kong. Below is a picture of the school and a link to their class blog.

Flat Stanley

Flat Stanley Letters have been mailed or will be mailed the beginning of this week. Thank you for assisting with this project and providing addresses for our “Flat People” to be sent out! We did ask for all letters to be back by April 4th. We will track the location of each “Flat Person” on a map and then attach pictures on their return.
