Seniors!
Ms. Burkhalter will be partnering with Springbrook High School to provide another financial aid Q&A for Seniors on Thursday, May 21st from 11:30-12:00pm. This session will be led by Beverly Coleman from the Montgomery College TRIO Educational Opportunity Center. In order to attend the event, you must complete the intake form collected by the TRIO office. A zoom link will be sent to you. Please email Ms. Burkhalter immediately if you are unable to access the Zoom link at the beginning of the session.
Scholarships!
- IWLA Rockville (Izaak Walton League of America, Rockville chapter). is awarding 6 $2000 scholarships to Montgomery County students who are going on to College, majoring in conservation-related subjects (wildlife management, etc) Check out the web-site, go to the Education tab and all of the information and the application is shown there.
- To apply for the Abbott and Fenner 2020 scholarship students will need to write an essay on the topic listed on our website at https://abbottandfenner.com/scholarships.php. The essay should be between 500 and 1000 words. The submissions must be sent by email to scholarships@abbottandfenner.com. The scholarship application is due by June 12th and the award amount is $1,000.

College Q&A Session
The Damascus High School's Counseling department will provide a "Zoom Q&A Follow Up Meeting" where your questions can be answered by our counseling staff on Friday, May 22 at 11:00 AM. The presentation will be based around questions that are submitted. A Zoom link for the Q&A session will be sent to your child’s MCPS email account Thursday evening and again Friday morning.

Rising senior Interview/Meeting
Attention juniors!
Your counselors will be meeting with you and your families virtually to complete your rising senior post high school interview. Please email your counselor to schedule your Zoom meeting starting in June.Please watch slideshow to hear information about the college application process! CCIC/Registrar Information
The counseling department asks that you take a few mins to fill out the “2020 Graduation Survey” on Naviance. The survey asks a few questions to help us accurately record your post-graduation plans and honor your accomplishments. Once you complete your survey, your final transcript will be sent to the school you plan to attend in the Fall.
To access the survey, log into Naviance, click About Me, Surveys, Surveys Not Started, and then “2020 Graduation Survey”. If you are unable to log into your Naviance account, please email Ms. Burkhalter (Nicole_D_Burkhalter@mcpsmd.org) and she will provide you with your username and a temporary password. Ms. Brown will not be able to send your final transcript until this survey is complete.

MCPS has launched a new video series, Waymaking, which highlights mental health and well-being resources for staff and students as families adapt to the evolving changes in daily life caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
