Friday Favorites

A few of my favorite things.

Years ago (many, MANY years), my mother dressed my sister and me in our prettiest Christmas outfits and took us to visit Santa in the local mall. After my visit with the jolly guy, I walked back to my mother with tears in my eyes. When she asked what was wrong, I opened my hand to reveal that Santa had given me a peppermint stick. I tearfully said, "Santa should know I don't like peppermint." Oh dear.

Arcademic Skill Builders

Academics + Arcade = Fun Learning!

One of my all-time favorite online educational game sites, Arcademic Skill Builders offers {free} math games, language arts games, and much more for K-8 kids. Students compete against others by joining an existing game or starting a new game for their friends to join. We all know how much kids like a little healthy competition!

Read more about Arcademic Skills Builders here, or check it out for yourself here.

Tech Tips & Such

This favorite thing comes from one of my favorite people. Becky and I worked together as Instructional Technologists for several years (we were also "in 6th grade together" many years ago!), but she and her husband moved to SWITZERLAND this summer and are teaching at an International School. Becky is blogging about cool technology tools that you can use from either side of "the pond." Be sure to check out Becky's blog, Tech Tips & Such. You can even sign up to receive her blog updates via email here.

I just like to smile. Smiling's my favorite.
