A Message from the Superintendent
Recently I was visiting with a parent of a secondary student who was considering moving their child to another local school in order to provide more educational opportunities for them. As I listened and attempted to not be offended as the leader of Spring Hill ISD, I couldn’t help but think what such a move would mean for the student during these critical years of their life. As a parent that has moved twice during the past two years, I have always had one goal in mind. I wanted to be in a permanent home before my daughter entered 7th grade. I have always felt that students are able to adapt to new environments much easier when they are younger. Once they enter 7th grade that ability to adapt becomes much more difficult for many students. At this point, social circles have become much closer on campuses and it becomes more difficult for a new student to enter. Impossible? No. But as parents who want the very best for their children, I think it is something we need to consider when making great choices for our children.
As the leader of Spring Hill I also take responsibility because I don’t believe we promote the incredible programs we offer as a school district. Many of our high school students are currently enrolled in college dual credit courses. Six of our seniors will graduate this year with a combined 162 hours of college dual credit hours. These students will leave with close to 27 college hours each and basically enter college as sophomores. Next year we are initiating a plan where over the course of four years our students will be able to graduate with all of their college core classes completed. This next year we will also provide seven programs of study:
- Accounting and financial services
- Culinary arts
- Carpentry
- Electrical
- Welding
- Digital communications
- Healthcare diagnostics
- Cybersecurity/information technology
We are attempting to assure that the culmination of each of these pathways lead to a professional certification.
I could write for pages about the technical side of why Spring Hill ISD will provide our students with everything they need to be successful at their next phase in life. However, as a parent I would like to tell you why I think this is the best district for my own two children, who I hope will grow up to be doctors and lawyers. It’s the quality of our students and staff that I think will give my children every advantage they need in life in order to be successful. The people we interact with and the people we learn from play a major role in determining how successful our children become in life. During my short time here I can assure you that our children have every opportunity to become successful based on the people they are surrounded by in Spring Hill ISD and the programs we offer.
Tip of the day: Many of our students that leave often end up returning within six months.

Spring Hill High School is Adding to its Career and Technology Education Program for the 2020-21 School Year
Dear Wayne,
The CTE expansion that you are leading in the Spring Hill ISD is exciting! Your focus on exploring job opportunities, matching training to a student’s interests, and ensuring that their interests and training are employable is commendable. I’m with you, we don’t want students having to go to Antarctica to find work! Nice job!!

Spring Hill High School Student Reece Malone Recognized for Outstanding Musical Accomplishments
SHISD would like to recognize Reece Malone for his outstanding accomplishments as a phenomenal musician. As a sophomore student at Spring Hill High School, Reece is currently endorsed by Gibson Guitars and Ernie Ball Guitar Strings. He was recently flown to California to open a show for Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Don Felder of the Eagles, and Slash of Guns N Roses and has played with a member of the Rolling Stones.
Reece was mentioned in a blog by Ernie Ball Guitar Strings, blog.ernieball.com ~ The 16-year-old, Reece Malone is the reason the word "prodigy" exists. Though he is from Longview, Texas, he has been cutting his teeth all across the nation, shredding on the guitar at various events. He's got the chops to stand up with any blues or rock 'n' roll players of today's intensely competitive guitar world.
You can follow Reece on Facebook and Instagram @ Reese Malone Music. Reece, we are so proud of you and wish you the very best in your music career!

A Message From Nurse Jaymie Walton
Spring Hill Parents,
FLU season has arrived!
Common signs and symptoms of the flu are fever greater than 100F, coughing/sneezing,
headache, body aches and extreme fatigue.
Please help us minimize the spread of the flu by keeping your student home if they have a fever
greater than 100F. Your student must also be fever free for a full 24 hours WITHOUT the use of
fever reducing medications like Tylenol or Ibuprofen before they can return to school.
Good handwashing, staying home when running fever and exhibiting flu symptoms and yearly
flu vaccines are the best way to protect your family and reduce the spread of the flu.
Thank you for helping us keep our Spring Hill students healthy!
