Leadership Team message from Marg
Kia ora koutou,
Ngahuru (Autumn) is upon us, and whilst the days are getting slightly shorter, and the mornings a tad cooler, it is critical to keep putting sunblock on all tamariki at home in the morning, and to ensure they have an appropriate sunhat in their school bag. We are having students without sun hats limited to shade areas during interval and lunchtime to reduce the risk of sunburn. PLEASE name hats you send to school so that they are able to be returned quickly if lost during the day. We appreciate your help in keeping our tamariki sunsmart and safe.
MITEY
Today we have had Kellie from the Mitey Sir John Kirwin Foundation come in and model the delivery of Mitey curriculum lessons for all of our teachers. This is an exciting step for us as we embark on the journey towards ensuring all tamariki have the learning to help “them build the necessary and age appropriate skills, knowledge and understanding they need to nurture their own emotional wellbeing and that of others”
Whānau Picnic
Thanks to everyone for coming along and making the whānau picnic such a vibrant and enjoyable evening. Face painting, music, picnics, pizza, ice-blocks, cricket, football, tamariki connecting with each other and with extended whānau and so much more. Parents and Friends did a fantastic job bringing it all together and keep an eye out for their future events. If you would like to become more connected with our Edendale community you can join the Parents and Friends group and volunteer for one or more events.

International students
Edendale Primary is proud to announce that we have officially welcomed our first international student to school. We also have a couple more international students starting in term 2 of this year.
We have been approached by some international agents about hosting some small groups of international students. As part of this arrangement, the agents are wondering if the school would be able to find homestays for these students. This would mean providing a room for a student or a student and parent to stay in. These homestays would be with you for approximately two weeks and there would be a payment for this.
If this is something that you think you would be interested in please contact Chriss at chriss@edendale.school.nz . This will enable us to know if this is a possibility for us as a school.

Sun hats
Please ensure your child wears a sunhat or has a sunhat in their school bag every day. Please label it clearly with your child's name.
Students not wearing sun hats at interval and lunchtime are spending the break time supervised in the shade. This is to avoid the negative impacts of the sun.
Edendale bucket hats and caps - $20 each are available on Kindo or at Reception. Payment can be made by cash, eftpos or visa.
