March 2018 Updates
BTES Happenings!
Last Month's Highlights!
Our DARE program is underway with the fifth grade classes and the students are loving it! Officer Scott spends a lot of time working with out students making sure they are aware of the dangers associated with drugs and alcohol. Thank you Officer Scott for your positive influence and messages to our students at BTES.
The Potter Creek Crusaders took an awesome trip to MATES in February. The students had a wonderful time and learned a lot! Thank you to Mrs. Palagonia for leading the charge at BTES :)
Thank you to all that came out to help honor our Honor Roll students for the 2nd Marking Period! We had a wonderful group of students achieve this status and we are very proud of them. BTES is full of hard working and dedicated students.
We also hosted another Top Dog Lunch for the Students of the Month. This awesome group of students ate pizza, shared stories, and laughed together while hanging out with Mr. Prima and Mr. Waldron. Thank you all for spreading your positivity, hard work, and enthusiasm for school. We appreciate you!
Thank you to our 5th grade teachers who sponsored a wonderful career day on Friday 2/23. We had many great visitors who were able to share their experiences with the students.
We are looking forward to a very positive and fun-filled month ahead!

March is National Nutrition Month
ChooseMyPlate.gov is a great resource for Nutrition information and ways to stay healthy! MyPlate recommends filling half your plate at meals with fruits and vegetables and making at least half of your grains, whole grains. Not everyone has the same eating habits. That's why the My Plate, My Wins program at ChooseMyPlate.gov is a great option for finding a healthy eating style that works for you. This program suggests that making small changes at a time and celebrating the milestones or "wins" along the way, can make a big impact over time! Visit ChooseMyPlate.gov for Recipes, Healthy Eating on a Budget Tips, and many other great resources!
Please call the nurse with any further questions at 732-269-2909, ext. 2005.

The Power of Positive Self-Talk
Self-talk is the stream of thoughts that run endlessly in one’s head. The thoughts can be positive or negative...optimistic or pessimistic. How one talks to one’s self has a direct impact on their self esteem, their physical and emotional well being, and their overall outlook on life. By teaching our children the coping skill of positive self-talk, we are teaching them a valuable lesson on how to cope with stress more effectively and ultimately, we are teaching them how to achieve happiness. : )
