Monday, January 17 Aledo ISD Student and Staff Holiday
Don't forget: Monday, Jan. 17, is a student and staff holiday for Aledo ISD; the district will be closed. AISD will resume a normal schedule on Tuesday, Jan. 18.
Thank you to AHS communications intern Aiden M. for this Martin Luther King Jr. holiday graphic.
AISD Celebrates School Board Recognition Month
The Aledo ISD is excited to honor and celebrate our seven Board of Trustees members throughout School Board Recognition Month during January 2022! Aledo ISD Trustees serve as a link between the community and classroom as they are selfless volunteers who spend long hours working to ensure the students and staff of the Aledo ISD are growing greatness! The Aledo ISD board - which was named the Texas Association of School Administrators 2021 Outstanding School Board for the State of Texas - is responsible for nearly 7,400 students, 850 employees and 11 campuses.
Please take the time this month to thank our Aledo ISD Trustees! Check our social media pages throughout the month of January to learn more about each of the district's seven trustees: Board President Hoyt Harris (featured below), Board Vice President Jessica Brown, Board Secretary Forrest Collins and Board Members David Lear, Jennifer Loftin, Jennifer Taylor (featured below) and Julie Turner.
AHS Ag Science Teacher Kelley Honored
Aledo High School agricultural science teacher Krysti Kelley was recently selected as the Career and Technical Educators of North Texas (CTENT) Teacher of the Year! Ms. Kelley was selected for her outstanding work as a CTE educator in Aledo ISD.
Secondary Student Course Selection Process Begins!
Parents of secondary students: the course selection process for current 5th-11th graders has begun! Please refer to emails from your principal and/or campus regarding information sessions and deadlines as some information sessions have passed and some are coming up.
- If you missed Monday's AHS Info Expo, you can access the documents discussed here.
- If you're looking for the 5th grade information for incoming 6th graders, you can access documents for Aledo Middle School here and for McAnally Middle School here.
Not sure which middle school your student is zoned for for the 2022-2023 school year? View attendance zone maps here on the Aledo ISD website.
As a reminder: The Aledo ISD does not accept or approve transfers; students must attend the school for which they are zoned. As was communicated last March/April during the attendance rezoning process when incoming fifth-grade students and their siblings were permitted to remain at their current campus for one school year (the 2021-2022 school year), siblings of those now-current fifth graders must attend the campus they are zoned for during the 2022-2023 school year and moving forward. No transfers will be accepted for these elementary students or for middle school students as we open McAnally Middle School, the district's second middle school.
AHS students enter FWSSR contests
If you're going to the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo over the next few weeks, be sure to stop by the art show in the Amon G. Carter Jr. Exhibits hall Concourse. Aledo High School had serveral students submit artwork for this contest, including five students from Melba Poppe's class with five works titled, “Five Stages in the Life of a Cowboy." See the beautiful images below of these works that follow the life of an individual cowboy.

P2 Character trait of the week: Prudence
This week's P2 Character Trait of the Week is Prudence!
Remember P2 has a site set up for families called P2 for Families. It is password protected, but the password is simply P2. This site has all of the Character Cards that we will share each week, plus related and inspiring videos as well as questions for families to discuss around each character strength for ALL 24 character strengths AND broken down by grade bands (PK-2; 3-5; 6-8; 9-12).
See the Prudence Character Card below, and consider using one of these Table Talk questions to start a conversation with your child about prudence!
PRUDENCE TABLE TALK for your FAMILY
Grades Pre-K-2: How does making careful choices help you to achieve your goals?
Grades 3-5: What might distract you from achieving your goal and how can you deflect that?
Grades 6-8: Do you find it harder or easier to make good choices as you get older?
Grades 9-12: What small decisions could you make today that would change your life dramatically in the future, good or bad?

SPECIAL TREAT at elementary schools on Friday, January 28: FREE FROZEN GOGURT with school lunch!
free covid-19 testing site temporarily closed
Due to a nationwide shortage of COVID-19 tests paired with a high demand for testing in Aledo ISD, we have exhausted our current supply of COVID-19 testing kits available at our before/after hours Free COVID-19 Testing Site at Vandagriff Elementary. Because of this, we will be pausing the before/after hours Free COVID-19 Testing Site at Vandagriff Elementary for the time being while we work with testing suppliers identified by the state to supply the district with more tests.
Once our testing kit supply has been replenished and we can reopen the free clinic, we will communicate that information with you; we do not anticipate that will be happening this week.
