The Gompers GATOR Bulletin 5/4/20
#thisiswhywedothis..#180daysofwhy...#GATORNATION
#Gatornation is #1
Dear Gompers Families,
This week we recognize, celebrate, and pay tribute to the dedication of EDUCATORS who support each student to reach their maximum learning potential. Our theme for the week is TEACHERS are our SUPERHEROS!!. Below is a schedule that students may participate in to show support and gratitude for the work of their teachers.
On Thursday(5/7) and Friday(5/8), we want to shower our SUPERHERO Teachers with cards, notes of appreciation, and even gift cards (if you choose) from their students. PTA/VIPS will have a table and box for each teacher on the front lawn for notes to be dropped off from 11:00 to 12:30 on both of these days. These special appreciation boxes will be delivered to each teacher's home/doorstep on Friday afternoon. We hope all students can participate and show, teachers how much they are true SUPERHEROS!
CHANGES: Please be advised, ATTENDANCE with HLO/Distance Learning is now being taken through Google Meet and or Zoom with the classroom teacher. Please ensure your child is in attendance at the scheduled "face to face" time designated by their teacher.
I encourage students to connect with their classmates for "morning meetings" twice a week and to use Google Classroom to communicate on a daily basis. I continue to add "spirit activities and family challenges" that will hopefully help us to feel more connected. Please review the schedules that will be apart of our distance learning structures. These structures are intended to provide systematic times and accountability for learning expectations.
Two great things happened last week in our #GATORNATION:
1. Student of the Month "Virtual" Celebration
It was sooooooo exciting seeing students "virtually" but even more exciting to recognize these students who have been working extremely hard to continue their learning during these difficult times. I challenge all students to continue to show GRIT and RESPONSIBILITY with their HLO assignments and tasks. We will celebrate/recognize a student for GFS: EXPECTATIONS "trait" on 5/29!
2. Dr. Miller's Coffee Hour "Virtual"
There were 9 parents and even our Board of Education members, Ms. Criaghead who joined in on the opportunity to talk openly about concerns about our current situation with distance learning and what the future holds for Fall 2020. Though there is still a lot of unknowns about Fall 2020, I did gain insight from a parent's perspective of how we need to support students/families during this time. I am open to listening and us working collectively for the good of the school.
Again, If you are still having technology challenges via a CHROMEBOOK device or internet service, please contact me or call the office with the number below.
Stay well and safe!
Respectfully - Dr. Miller

Students with IEP and related Services
Thank you for your patience as LBUSD was waiting for legal direction from the State Department of Education on how to proceed with students of IEPs and associated related services.
In the next several days, communication will come directly from your child's case carrier/teacher ad or the DIS service providers this week. Please note, the services will look differently as we are still under the provision of social distancing.
If there are any questions or concerns, please contact Ms. Frak (school counselor) or myself.
6th Grade Parents - TDAP Booster is needed, ASAP!!!!
- Per state of California, all students entering 7th grade must have a Tdap vaccination on file with their enrolled school.
- Students that do not have their Tdap vaccination on file will not receive a 7th-grade schedule.
PUMP, Up the SPIRIT, GATORNATION!!!!
Please, please, send photos for the yearbook any "pics" activities w/Gomper Gators
Celebrating the 8th grade Class of 2020 - We are proud of your accomplishments
As you know, all EOY planned activities have been canceled due to COVID-19 and social distancing guidelines for the public gathering.
However, we have we will still celebrate ad provide for our 6th-grade students as they have reached a milestone and are matriculating to high school.
If you would like to be a part of the "planning committee", email me as I welcome your ideas of celebration: dmyersmller@lbschools.net.
Music News from Ms. Lucio
Dear Gompers Students, Parents and Guardians,
Morey’s has opened up to our community to help with instrumental needs. If your violin or cello requires tuning, email or call the store first to schedule a time with them. You do not need to walk into the store, an associate will come to your car, please wear a mask when they come to your car. Supplies can also be purchased and the items will be delivered to your car. Please assist Morey’s and call or email them in advance so they can schedule a time for you. Morey’s is amazing for helping our community and our musicians, I am thankful to them for their support.
Stay safe and healthy,
Mrs. Lucio
