Fulton Focus

For the parents and patrons of the Fulton School District

A message from the Superintendent

Dear Parents and Patrons,

Four weeks until students return to academic classes! WOW, such a short period of time for a summer that has evaporated so quickly. Your student will return August 21 to classrooms filled with excited teachers ready and willing to guide learning and work toward each student’s individual success.

This year several changes have occurred as long time building administrators have left the district. At FHS Mrs. Kati Boland replaces Mr. Chris Mincher as High School Principal. Mrs. Boland is joined by Joshua Pierce, a former FPS faculty member now serving as Assistant Principal. At Bartley, Ms. Teri Quick replaces the retired Mrs. Connie Epperson as Principal. Dr. Holly Broadway replaces the retired Mrs. Lynne Engle as Principal and Ms. Allison Chostner is joining the Bush Team as Assistant Principal. At the District level, an FPS graduate Mrs. Lauren Jacobs replaces the retired Mrs. Kathleen Tucker as Director of Health Services. Future Focus issues will provide additional information on our new staff.

Your Board of Education has been actively engaged in reviewing your survey responses and Open Forum comments regarding future Fulton School facilities. No different than renovating your home, specific infrastructure needs and wishes exceed a reasonable ability to pay for the upgrades; hence several discussions will take place this summer and fall. The Board of Education will be meeting, Wednesday, August 14, 2019, 6:00 p.m. in the FHS Commons with our planning architect Hollis+Miller to review needs/wants and additional public input will be sought at the third Open Forum, Thursday, August 29, 2019, 6:00 p.m. at McIntire Elementary. You are always welcome at Board of Education meetings and your input is requested at the Third Open Forum, August 29th.

As we kick off the new your local business community through the Callaway Chamber of Commerce is preparing the 2nd Annual Big Bash August 2, 2019, to welcome back all Callaway County Faculty. Kudos to Tamara Tateosian Chamber Executive Director who is spearheading this initiative. Your Fulton Faculty very much appreciates our community support of your students and our efforts to ensure their success.

As I suspect you are aware on-line enrollment is progressing. If you have not completed the process, please do so now. www.fulton58.org has updated instructions to overcome the recent software challenges. Your prompt attention to completing online enrollment is appreciated, yet we do apologize for the Tyler Software issues.

We are looking forward to the new school year. Great activities are planned and we expect your student(s) to excel and have a great year!

Thank you for sending great student(s) for us to work with and be part of their life.

Jacque A. Cowherd, Ed.D.
