News from Guidance
The character trait for January is Citizenship. Our monthly classroom lesson will focus on citizenship, self-awareness, calming strategies, and recognizing feelings in others. This month we will have a schoolwide assembly called OmegaMan. This assembly is all about making good choices and being a Helping Everyone Respect Others! Students can wear their favorite superhero shirt for the assembly on 1/10/23.
Staff Member Spotlight
Mrs. Kalish is our January Staff Member of the Month. Congratulations, Mrs. Kalish
This is Mrs. Kalish's eighth year in Sparta, teaching both Kindergarten and Second Grade. Her favorite part of the job is forming new and individualized relationships with her students each year. The dynamic of her classes continues to change which helps keep things new and exciting. Mrs. Kalish's hope for the 22-23 school year is to build a classroom community in which her students feel confident and creative, and have an overall sense of joy. When Mrs. Kalish is not in school, she enjoys spending time with her family, her two daughters, Kallie (5) and Ava (3), as well as her husband, Jason. She feels so lucky to have her nieces and nephews close by for lots of family play dates. Congratulations again, Mrs. Kalish.

Tricky Tray
The Tricky Tray committee is in need of baskets. If you have any baskets that you no longer need, please feel free to drop them off at the school to be used for the event. The committee is also seeking donations and sponsorships. If you, or someone you know owns a business and would like to contribute goods or services small or large, or sponsor the event, please contact alpinetrickytray@gmail.com. This is a great way to showcase your business while supporting our school.
Souper Bowl Food Drive
Get ready to clean out your pantry! We will be collecting non-perishable food for the Sparta Community Food pantry. The food drive will run from January 30th through February 10th. Your students will have a chance to drop items in the bin for the team they predict will win the Super Bowl.
