Students will be signing up to participate in the 2016-2017 STEAM Spelling Bee very soon! The event will take place at STEAM on December 9th at 9:00 am. Here is the link for resources, information, and study materials for parents/students.

College and Career Studies ~ Ms. Carroll, Mrs. Beam and Ms. Parker
Mrs. Carroll:
Students are continuing to prepare for our upcoming unit. In this unit, students will design their own cereal box after exploring skills related to the graphic design and marketing career fields.
Mrs. Beam & Mrs. Parker:
Students will continue working on our e2L unit, “Journey to NASA!” Students should have Chromebooks charged and ready to go each day. We will continue focusing on the elements of plot and grammar. We will also begin the illustration portion of our books.
Pre-AP Science ~ Ms. Quisenberry and Ms. Cox
Space Night will take place November 15th at CHS, from 6-8 pm. We will have meteorites from the Monnig Meteorite Gallery, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History Mobile Planetarium, Telescopes from the Fort Worth Astronomical Society, and more! It's a great night to celebrate Space Science. Students should dress nice, and should plan to arrive 15 minutes early in order to find their experiments and prepare. Students will begin to understand proportional relationships by: Representing ratios with concrete models Writing ratios and finding equivalent ratios Using rates and unit rates to compare quantities Mrs. Justice and Ms. Gregg will be out on Wednesday and Thursday this week due to trainings.

We will continue our geometry unit. Students will work with angle relationships and solve for missing angles in triangles and parallel lines cut by transversals. There will be a knowledge check over this information the following week on Tuesday.
Humanities ~ Mrs. Moore, Ms. Lindamood, and Mrs. Strother
We are continuing our study of Central America by constructing an ABC book of the various nations and attractions in Central America. We will also conduct an in-depth study of the Panama Canal through the reading of Voices of the Panama Canal.
Art ~ Mrs. Beam
We will continue our watercolor unit this week and launch our next e2L unit focusing on watercolor, the color wheel, and emotion. If you did not purchase an art kit, please purchase a prang watercolor set for your student. We will be using these for the next two weeks.
