Principal Message

Student achievement continues to soar! Our mid-year District Assessment (administered in December) results were AWESOME! Our students performed above the district and the cluster in all content areas grades K-5! We are so proud of how hard our students are working. Way to go Generals!

Our excellent teachers are going to continue to work hard to make sure our students are mastering the content. To help us finish the year strong, please make sure you are doing the following:

  • Make sure your child is reading at least 20-30 minutes each night.
  • Set aside a time and quiet space for your child to complete homework.
  • Check your child's homework every night and sign the agenda.
  • Attend Title I information sessions to learn how you can assist your child at home.
  • Talk to your child about what he/she learned each day.
  • Make sure your child gets enough rest so he/she is alert and ready to learn at school.

Thank you for your support!

Your proud principal,

Dr. McCain

General Salute!

Congrats to Sterling Porter - he won 4th place in the Special Olympics bowling competition! Way to go Sterling!

From the Parent Center

Students will be participating in Milestone Testing throughout the month of April. We need parent volunteers to assist us between 8:50 - 11:00 each day.

Also, if you would like to assist your child in preparing for Milestone Assessment, we have study guides available for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.

Please contact Mrs. Bridges at (678) 344-4410 to schedule a volunteer date or to gather Milestone prep materials.

Book Fair is coming soon! That's right, our last Book Fair of the year will be held Wednesday, February 19th through Friday, February 28th. All the info you need can be found at https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/parteees.

While on the website, set up your child's eWallet account for easy shopping and peruse the interactive flyer to watch book trailers. As always, we are in need of volunteers to help set up, take down, and work the fair. Sign up online to be a volunteer and receive 20% off your book fair purchases.

Reasons To Keep Your Child Home From School -Part 3

*Persistent Cough: If your child's cough is worse than you would expect with a cold, keep him home from school. If he/she has hard time breathing or has a fever, call your doctor.

*Sore Throat: If your child has a sore throat with a fever, he/she should stay at home. If your child has a quick onset of fever and sore throat without cold symptoms, call your doctor immediately.

You should keep your child at home if he/she might spread an illness to other children. Children who are sick have a difficult time participating in class and learning.

Microsoft Outlook Migration

In March, our school will participate in the district migration to Microsoft Outlook. During this migration, there will be a change in our email addresses. The new email address for staff will be much shorter: first.last@gcpsk12.org. DON'T WORRY! Our old email addresses will work through the end of the school year. The new email addresses will be listed in our directory on the website.

Have You Signed Up for the Parent Portal?

It's easy! Log on to https://gwinnett.k12.ga.us/parents/PPS/login and create your account. With access you can: update student information, check your child's attendance record, see their grades; and opt into School Messenger. With School Messenger, you get text messages on school wide events and notification of when your child's bus has let the campus late.
