What's Happening at the "D"
V6 #9 2019/2020
A note from the Principal...
Since we are in the flu season, I wanted to take a moment and share how we are trying to help prevent the spread of germs. First and foremost, washing hands is a practice that I hear teachers to say consistently throughout the day. Hand sanitizer is also in classrooms and in the front office. The entire staff has been trained on blood borne pathogens and our custodian Philip is responsive to cleaning up the clinic or classrooms if someone vomits. The custodians are instructed to clean the classrooms nightly.
We have been seeing a lot of fevers lately. When your child has a fever, we request that your child be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school, without having taken medicine. There are times that students have come down to the office with a fever and they tell us that their parent gave them medicine in the morning for the fever. Although it may seem harmless, a fever is a symptom of a contagious condition. It is for everyone's safety that we encourage parents to keep their child home if they have a fever.
Every month we focus on reading and literacy! However. we celebrate reading the Month of March! Keep an eye out for our calendar with the celebration activities!
Another reason that it's a great time to be a dolphin!
With appreciation,
Mary Beth Merlo

I know it is tempting to not follow the rules when an opportunity to make things quicker or easier arises. Please keep in mind, if students see this, they may be tempted to not follow school rules when opportunities arise for them as well. :)
