Message from Principal Masone
Dear Families,
It is a joy and honor to serve you and your children. We are so very grateful to be back in person at school with each and every student.
Monday is Labor Day and we have no school. Because of the holiday, this Wednesday, September 8th is a typical Wednesday, with no late start. All students should plan to be at school between 7:45 and 8:00am as usual.
On Friday, September 10, we have the Manitou Springs High School Homecoming Parade. For those of you new to Manitou Springs, the main avenue closes and we celebrate our students with a parade down Manitou Avenue. Usually, our band plays and we have floats. There is a lot of excitement in the air. Everyone is welcome to join. If you plan to take your child home with you from the parade, you must sign your child out and then tell the child's teacher, so that we can ensure that all students are safe.
We continue to practice our COVID Safety protocols at MSES. Students wear masks, except during lunch and when outdoors, we wash/sanitize hands regularly, and we have multiple opportunities for outdoor learning and recess breaks. In addition our building custodial team sanitizes heavy traffic areas during the day, such as hand rails and door knobs.
We did have one child test positive for COVID. The student was not on campus while symptomatic. Because the parents kept home their sick child, and masks were used appropriately, only one student had to be quarantined for two days.
Relationships, Rigor and Opportunity are alive and well at Manitou Springs Elementary School. We are so glad you are part of our family!
Warmly,
Maria
