Both grades math units are focused on place value. Part of those units are skip counting.
Our First Grade team is working on skip counting. (1.NBT.B.2)
Second grade is working on skip counting by 2s, 5s, 10s and 100s. (2.NBT.A.2)

First Grade
In this lesson children were given a handful of links. They worked to group them by 2s, 5s, or 10s to represent the effficiency of skip counting large quantities.
Second Grade
In this lesson children were given a large handful of popsicle sticks. They created sets of ten. We then worked together to make groups of 100. We had 540 popsicle sticks! Skip counting sure did make it easier to count!
Reading
During interactive read aloud we have been working on identifying 'Problem and Solution'. In these pictures children participating in a partner read of 'Enemy Pie'. (Level L book) They worked to read it aloud together and identify the problem and solution.
Donations needed
One of our recess rotations is on the swings and field near the front of the school. There are 6 swings, and no other equipment. We are a little limited on the fun we can have. We would love the following if you are willing to donate: (items do not need to be new)
balls (soccer, kickballs, bouncing balls), chalk , or hoola hoops
Another item that would help in our classroom is cardstock. It is a very sturdy paper I can print on. I am wishing to literacy and math resources for each child that will last all year. I am not particular about color.
