Looking for a 4-H Club Grant?!
Monday, September 30 is the $2,000 grant application deadline for organizations focused on Agricultural Education in Nebraska (the $10,000 level deadline is December 31, 2019). 4H group leaders should consider applying.
Through Farm Credit Services of America’s Working Here Fund, organizations can apply online for up to $2,000 and $10,000 in community grants.
Grant recipients have included the following organizations and project types:
- Community gardens and greenhouses, tower gardens, hydroponics, aquaponics, etc.
- FFA chapters, 4H Groups, and Ag in the Classroom
- Food-to-Fork programs and ag literacy programs for children
- Women in agriculture and agriculture education curriculums
- Food bank and food pantries, backpack hunger relief programs
- Fairground upgrades
- Disaster relief efforts
- Fire department grain bin rescue equipment
Applications for the current $2,000 grant period can be completed online through September 30, 2019. Grants are determined based on the specific selection criteria and results will be communicated via mailed letter in October 2019. The next grant application period for the $2,000 grants will run October 1 through December 31, 2019. The $10,000 grant application period runs June 1 through December 31, 2019.

Fed Steer Challenge
The Nebraska 4-H Fed Steer Challenge 2020 is a contest and educational opportunity for youth with a desire to become the next generation of leaders in the Nebraska Cattle Industry.
The goal is to enhance the educational value of the 4-H Market Beef Project. Additional information for this contest can be viewed in the document linked below.

2019 MAKE IT WITH WOOL CONTEST - entries due soon!
Enter the Make It With Wool Contest!
The object of the contest is to promote the beauty and versatility of wool fabrics and yarns; to encourage personal creations in sewing, knitting, crocheting, spinning and weaving of wool fabrics and yarns; and to recognize creative skills.
The 2019 State Make It With Wool Contest will be November 23 at the Adams County Extension Office in Hastings, NE beginning at 9:00 a.m.
The divisions are as follows: Preteen – age 12 and under, Junior – age 13 to 16, Senior – age 17 to 24, Adult – age 25 and over, and Made For Others.
