News and Notes

Dear Parents,

I hope you enjoyed your weekend! Next Wednesday is the last day before Christmas Vacation. My Christmas gift to your children is a "free" Christmas colors dress down on Wednesday, December 23rd.

There is a good chance that we will have a good bit of snow this week, enough for a possible snow day. As in the past, the Archdiocese will continue to observe snow days. This means that we will not be going remote if we have a snow day, but having a traditional snow day. We will also continue the policy of following our local school district decision for a snow day or delay. When the Public School of the Tarrytowns announce a snow day or delay, I will immediately announce it via our IRIS system and social media platforms.

Don't forget to join the Parents' Guild tomorrow, December 15th, for the General meeting at 7pm. The meeting ID is941 2126 7989 and the passcode is 839018. They will be discussing fundraising and other exciting upcoming events.

Pizza Fridays are back for the new year!! Please see details on the flyer below! Order forms will be going home via backpack this afternoon.

Applications for NEW students for the 21-22 school year are now open. This includes ALL incoming Kindergarten students, even if your child attends our school for PK4. Please share this information with family and friends who are thinking of attending our school. Spots in Kindergarten are already filling up. Have a great afternoon,

Ms. Kazan

Advent News 2020

From the Parents' Guild

We have one week left until the drawing of one of our biggest fundraisers, the $20,000 Raffle! A week from today, four members our our Transfiguration community will be feeling pretty good about the way 2020 ended up! With a Grand Prize of $15,000 to third place at $1,000, it's sure to brighten anyone's Christmas!

This is our final reminder to families who have not sold their 2 tickets yet. Each Transfiguration family is responsible for selling 2 raffle tickets, whether you purchase yourselves, post the link on Facebook, or get family or friends to go in on a ticket. We need 100% participation in order for this fundraiser to benefit our children.

There are two ways to purchase tickets. You can send in the attached form or you can purchase online. The link to online sales can be found on the school website: Transfigurationschool.org.

Every class with 100% participation will get a class wide dress down day AND an extra recess!!

Drawing will be live via Zoom on Monday, December 21st at 7pm.

Meeting ID: 972 4688 9631

Passcode: 711858

We look forward to seeing you then!

Service Update

GIVING TREE - All gifts were collected and returned to the Church on time! It's truly heartwarming to be part of such a giving community.

We deeply appreciate your dedication to helping those in need this holiday season!

ADVENT PRAYERS FOR SOYAPANGO: Please have your children continue to color the Advent Calendar we sent home and offer a daily prayer for our friends in Soyapango. After Christmas, the prayer sheets should be returned to school as they will be sent to St. Joseph the Worker School, El Salvador to be distributed as a sign of our friendship and solidarity with them.

December 13th - 3rd Sunday of Advent

Yesterday marked the third Sunday of Advent, also called Gaudete Sunday, which celebrates the passing of the midpoint of the Advent Season. Gaudete is a Latin word, meaning rejoice. The pink candle and rose vestments the priest wears represent this joyful and more lighthearted mood. Gaudete Sunday is a moment to stop and reflect on the source of true joy- the birth of Jesus. Gaudete Sunday has always been my favorite Sunday in Advent. I love the idea of taking a moment for a little bit of joy during the penitential season of Lent.

I have attached an Advent calendar for the 3rd week of Advent with some daily reminders, activities and prayers to do with your children.

I wish you all a blessed Advent.
