Austinville Students Shine at Morgan County 4-H Round-Up
Thirty 4-H members from Austinville's fourth and fifth grade attended the Morgan County Round-Up this week. Their projects ranged from interior design, public speaking, photography, and plants to showing off their driving skills on a riding mower. Mrs. Carol Blackwood and Mrs. Jennifer Fernandez stood in for 4-H sponsor, Mrs. Bridgett Hayes. Retired Austinville 4-H Sponsor, Ms. Vicki Linley also attended to support the club's efforts. Bringing home awards were: Montana Holland, first place in Interior Design; Cesar Beltran, first place in Project Green Thumb; Ashley Salgado, first place in Extreme Birdhouse; and Deserae Ray, first place in Speak-Up Alabama. Second place winners were Cesar Beltran in Extreme Birdhouse and Mariana Saldana Garcia in Interior Design. Bringing home third place honors were Miguel Garcia in Interior Design and Jessalynn Sauber in Project Green Thumb. The students enjoyed their day by looking at other projects and by making new friends from across Morgan County.

Bonnie Plants Delivers Plants for Annual Cabbage Program
Mr. Patrick Prater of Bonnie Plants greeted third graders at Austinville with cabbages this week. Students grow these plants at home and send in pictures to enter the contest. Entries should be submitted by September 30 and scholarship winners will be announced by February 15. Students and their parents may check bonniecabbageprogram.com for more information. Third grade teachers are happy to have another source of hands-on learning for students who have already studied about plants during the year. We appreciate Bonnie Plants for their support of our school and students.
