A WEEK OF APPRECIATION
A special thank you to Boosters, Sunshine, teachers, and admin for giving a little extra this week to make celebrations happen!
QUADCHELLA
It was a warm evening, with the temperature in the low 80's. Decorations, signs, and string lights waved in the breeze. A couple hundred students from the middle and high schools were visiting with each other across the quad. Students were walking around visiting booths or gathering at tables or on their blankets on the grass. The energy was calm, inviting and positive - loads of laughter and smiles. Students were taking turns sharing their musical talent with everyone and in return there was a ton of support, cheering and applause.
A favorite moment:
Then, it was Mia's (high school student) turn to perform. She sang "I love you baby" by Frank Sinatra. There were some soft oooh's and aaah's chiming in with her singing. The spirit was so rich and contagious, one-by-one, friends in pairs got up to slow dance center stage. The stage filled up pretty quickly, followed by the entire quad joining the singing and swaying. It was pretty magical. Goose bumps magical. It was a moment better than you could hope for, for our kids. It was pure kindness, acceptance and celebration amongst our Pirate family.
I love our family. Arrrgh!
