The Wilmot Word - 8-26-22
Hello Wilmot,
We had a great full week of school. Students have now attended all of their specials, many checked out books in the library and I watched several classes learn and practice recess games during PE. In STEAM I enjoyed watching students participate in a variety of team-building challenges. Some 4th graders worked hard to create "The Impossible Structure" pictured below. I enjoyed hanging out with students during recess as they played with new friends.
I also wanted to let our families know that our wonderful custodian, Mr. Marcos, is taking a new job outside of the district. We wish him all the best with his new adventure.
I am looking forward to seeing our parents/guardians next week during Open House. As a reminder, this is an adult-only event and we respectfully ask that students not attend.

SHIELD Take Home Testing Begins Next Week - Kits are coming home today!
If your family opted in prior to August 11th, expect your child to bring home testing supplies today along with information on what to do. Those that opted in after our initial deadline will begin testing next month.
Open House /Curriculum Night (final posting)
Open House is an opportunity for parents/guardians to visit their child’s classroom, meet the teacher and learn about our curriculum. Classroom teachers will share information regarding school/classroom curriculum, instructional practices, parent communication, and classroom and school procedures. Our teachers will also answer any questions that you might have.
You will also have an opportunity to meet representatives from our specials and student services departments as well as our instructional coaching team.
In order to accommodate all parents/guardians in the classroom and the parking lot, we will hold our open house over two nights. Kindergarten, first and second-grade families will join us on Monday, August 29, and families with children in third, fourth, and fifth grades will join us on Tuesday, august 30. Please click the link below to view the schedule for each grade level. We look forward to seeing all of our families for an in-person open house.
Is your child symptomatic for COVID? (2nd posting)
As a reminder; if your child is presenting with COVID-19 symptoms, we will be continuing to accept home test results via our website. Here is the link to submit your child’s home test results (please select your child’s school from the drop down menu). If you have any questions or concerns about your ability to access home tests during the school year please reach out to Joanna Ford at jford@dps109.org.
Turn in those required health forms! (2nd posting)
There’s still a few weeks to accomplish this. Check this list by grade to make sure you’ve got all the right forms submitted!
