L.A. Unified Pathway to Biliteracy Awards honor students who, by the end of 8th grade, have demonstrated a commitment to the path of becoming biliterate and who have reached a certain degree of proficiency in English.
Pathway to Biliteracy Awards & Recognition for 8th Graders
In the past, students would read 10 books and write an essay in his/her target language to qualify, in late February the district rewrote the reference guide to qualify based on passing an assessment in the students 2nd language. ANY LANGUAGE. American Sign Language also constitutes as a 2nd language. Please encourage your child to test. It will not hurt to try.
If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Oropeza, Assistant Principal via email at vmo5154@lausd.net, or call the school at 323-224-4701.

ATTENTION: 8th Grade Families. Reminder: To be in the Panorama picture, students must be in uniform. Students cannot wear sweaters for the panorama picture.

Congratulations to El Sereno Students & Staff. We have been identified as Reclassification All Stars by LD-east!
We will be recognized for our 2021-2022 reclassification efforts. We achieved one of the highest reclassification rates in the former Local District East. In recognition for our accomplishment we will receive a CONGRATULATORY Banner.
We are proud of our English Language Learners, we are proud of our ELD teachers, and of our school community who have supported us with teaching the ELD standards and language objectives to help support academic speaking, reading, listening, and writing.
WHOO! HOO!
Let's work hard to continue reclassifying our ELs for the 2022-2023 school year.
