Week 2: Traditions (March 25th - March 31)
Theme of the week:
Think of a tradition that you and your family enjoy. This week we will focus on different traditions that we enjoy. If you’d like, share your work with your ELL teachers and friends on Seesaw.
A tradition can be anything, but it’s probably something you’ve seen or done in your home for as long as you can remember.
Some examples of traditions include: celebrating a holiday, celebrating your birthday, weekly family dinner, vacations, sports, special family activities or occasions, etc.
Celebration Tradition 4th of July Some people shoot fireworks to remember our freedom. Birthday Some people blow out the candles on the birthday cake and sing the “Happy Birthday”. Chinese New Year Some parents give children lucky red envelopes with money. Sports For example, my dad played soccer when he was little and now he’s teaching me how to play it too. Festivals Some people put wishes on trees, we go look at cherry blossoms, or we dance a special dance Holi Some people throw a color powder paint Quinceanera Girls celebrate turning 15 years old Vacation Some families take a trip at the same time every year or go to the same place every year.
