Newsletter Week 4 Term 4 2022
St Joseph's Catholic School Morrinsville - November 8th
Principal's Message
Nau mai, haere mai St Joseph’s Whanau
The seasons have definitely changed and the big final push in learning is underway. It is always great to see young people utilizing their new knowledge and understanding and applying it to the way they participate in school life and their new challenges in learning.
Summer School Uniform: All students should now be in full regulation summer uniform, which includes a regulation sun hat. Any student without a sun hat will be asked to stay under the shade cloth during break times. We also ask that you please take the time to put suntan lotion on your children before they head off to school. We all have to be SunSmart.
Missions Day: was a great success and one in which we saw children come to the fore implementing creative activities with the purpose of raising money to help people in need overseas. The resulting $3,200 for overseas missions was very pleasing. Children had their awareness raised of the bigger world beyond New Zealand and that they can make a difference for people less well off than themselves.
ICAS Awards Congratulations to all recipients who received their ICAS Awards at Assembly this week. A great effort! Well done indeed.
Senior Camp: the bus left on time this morning with an excited load of children all heading to Rotorua and some great experiences. We will update you on our next newsletter.
This Week
Wednesday: Senior Camp Students return after two days in Rotorua.
Friday: St John’s College representative visits St Joseph’s Year 8s Friday
Next Week
Wednesday: Scripture Reading opportunity for Years 5-8
Thursday: School Athletics Day 9:30am - 3:00pm on our grounds - all welcome to attend.
A prayer for the coming week:
Dear Lord
We thank you for the life you have given us
We thank you for the blessing it is to live in this country
We thank you for shelter over our heads and food on our tables
We pray for those in countries less fortunate than ourselves
We pray that we might have generous hearts
to help Your missions overseas and in our own country.
Amen
Every blessing and have a great week.

Reflection shared from Jemma Van Eijk, DRS
Last week we had our Mission Day to raise funds for the 3 missions that our school supports.
Mission Day is something that is very special and unique to our school and has a long history here.
This year we managed to raise just over $3000 to go towards children in need around the world.
In Gospel Hui on Monday I talked to the students about the importance of Mission Day and what the funds we raise are used for.
It is great to see the love and support of our students going out into the world to help others in need.
We hope that you will mark this in your calendar for next year and come along to support our tamariki in this great cause.
A prayer for the week...
Loving God, open our hearts to all who come to us for help.
May we be witnesses to the Gospel in our words and in our actions so that all may feel valued and respected.
Give us hearts that overflow with compassion and justice.
May we continue to be your hands and feet in the world.
We ask this prayer through Jesus, your Son. Amen
Have a safe and blessed week. Aroha Mai - Mrs Van Eijk
