Updated Breakfast Routine π₯
Students in in Grades 3-5
Students that want breakfast in grades 3, 4, and 5 will enter the building in the morning and go straight to the cafeteria. Outside of the cafeteria line they will have individual ID cards that allow that they will use to scan to receive their breakfast. They will get their ID card and enter the breakfast serving line. Then, they will take the breakfast they chose to their classroom to consume.
Students in Grades K-2
Students in Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade that want breakfast will enter the building and go straight to their classroom. At this point, they will drop off their belongings, pick up their ID card, and head down to the cafeteria. These students will get their food items and eat in the cafeteria.
All students should be finished with breakfast as close to 8:45 as possible, and late arrivals will eat in their classroom.
National School Lunch Program Update π₯ͺ
This year, Highland qualifies for the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) of the National School Lunch Program. This allows schools in specific areas to provide meals at no cost to families. For the 2023-2024 school year all breakfasts and lunches will be free for all students at Highland.
No further action is need by your family; however, you may still wish to complete a Free and Reduced Meal Application. Submitting the application through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Access to Social Services (COMPASS) website may qualify you for food stamps, energy assistance, and/or Childrenβs Health Insurance Program. It will also help schools in the West Shore School District qualify as location sites for free summer meals in 2024. For directions on how to complete the application online, please visit, https://www.wssd.k12.pa.us/FreeandReducedMeals.aspx
