Principal's Note: Be Proactive (Leader in Me Habit #1)
This habit is built into so much of what we do at WAVE.
Common principles around this habit include:
1. Responsibility
2. Choice
3. Accountability
4. Initiative
5. Resourcefulness
At WAVE, students are responsible for being agents of their own learning. Students (with family support) create and maintain a school schedule, have choice in when and where learning takes place, are ultimately accountable to themselves for their learning success, must show initiative in digging deeper into the learning and utilizing the multiple resources that are built into support student success: teachers, office hours, tutor.com, the ability to redo assignments until learning targets are met, and in person blended learning.
Being proactive puts YOU in control! The principles you are practicing today in being proactive will help you now and well into the future.
Keep building positive habits.

In Person Office Hours
Students can schedule time with classmates for cooperative work and studying, work with a resource teacher on site, or use the space for "dedicated" school time during the week (with a teacher in the room, if there are questions),
Students should enter at Door #1, let the Reception Desk know you are there for WAVE Office Hours, and someone will meet you and walk you to the WAVE Center room.

Procedures for Student Absences
If your student will be offline, and the above pieces of attendance are not in place, please call or email our office to report your student's absence and share a plan for making up missed time.
WAVE School Calendar & "Days Off"
If a student will not be working on a holiday, for example, it's best to put more time in leading up to the planned day off to ensure fidelity to the pacing guide and suggested due dates.
Likewise, if a teacher will be taking time off, that teacher will communicate to the student what their WAVE hours will look like.
In summary, WAVE does not plan for days off of school, families working with their students have the ability to make scheduling decisions that best meet their personal needs.

Tutor.com - 24/7 Homework Help at WAVE
But, if you need "just in time" help, and it is outside of your teacher's daily availability, try Tutor.com.
WAVE provides this extra layer of support for our learners when they need it. All students have to do is click on the Tutor.com link in their class, and follow the directions to connect with a tutor.
This service is available 24/7 (except for major holidays).
The tutor will not give you answers, but he/she will help you understand the material you are working on.
WHAT WAVE STUDENTS HAVE SAID ABOUT THEIR TUTOR.COM EXPERIENCE:
"...absolutely amazing! She was patient, helpful, and went above and beyond to help me..."
"These people are the best at what they do."
"These tutors are amazing..."
