Community for All
A community equity event
September 14th, 2022
When was the last time you saw a comment on social media or heard a comment that made you feel "triggered?" Perhaps the word "triggered" in the previous sentence has you feeling a certain way. We've all been there, a friend or even a stranger has made a remark that doesn't sit right--and maybe you can't put your finger on why. Now what? Do you engage this person? Do you back away slowly, pretending not to notice? Do you make a mental note as to the integrity of this person? What stops you from engaging in a dialog that might help you both grow and become more inclusive humans? The CORE Services (Collaborative Organizational Revitalization for Equity) team at the Cooperative Educational Service Agency 10 has developed a learning opportunity for you to explore equity language, terminology, and concepts, examine the role of identity in our community, and explore national and local history of marginalization.
Learning Outcomes:
- Learn essential concepts related to equity.
- Identify why it is difficult to have conversations related to equity.
- Develop strategies for having equity conversations with those of a different mindset than you.
