2nd Hand News
September 2017
September has been about establishing routines and creating a community as leaders of the Lower School. 2nd graders participated in learning the 2nd Quaker "spice" of peace for International Peace Day and celebrated it at Lower School Sing. In math, students have been working on number sense and have begun place value by making Very Large Numbers. 2nd graders have been working on visualizing while reading, and learning to picture the structure words of what, number, movement, and size that occur in informational passages. Since trees undergo a major change in autumn, what better time to learn about their characteristics and importance in our world. In addition to listening to forest literature, 2nd grade arborists have been getting close to the "outer bark" while studying trees.
Fun events have included Pet Day and an Energy! assembly. Last but not least, Little Friends found out who their Big Friends are and had their first get together after Meeting for Worship. Next stop for LF/BF is Peddlars Village later in the month.
