Words of Wisdom provided by MBK Intern, Desean Jones-Dubose
"Never lose hope, no matter how bleak things look. Hope is the rope that will pull you up. It is your connection, your stairway, to get your dreams and expectations realized. Never leave the rope of hope."

All MBK networks have been encouraged to engage indiviudals within MBK Houston community to amplify this hashtag and MBK's efforts while also recruiting new mentors to engage locally.
As the White House prepares for the MBK Summit on December 14, they are asking MBK Communities to highlight local accomplishments and progress to address the persistent opportunity gaps facing area boys and young men of color and efforts to ensure all youth can reach their full potential. Below is more on how your principal can lift up local efforts and engage the community in advancing the program’s goals.
How You Can Amplify Local Accomplishments:
1. Tell Your Story: Issue a press release, place an editorial in your local newspaper or host a press conference with area leaders, youth and stakeholder to outlining progress against your goals. Or post a blog that features the stories of those impacted by local MBK programs as a way to highlight progress made. Don’t forget to develop and post social media graphics that help tell your story of success.
2. Host a Watch Party: Invite area leaders, youth and stakeholders to watch the summit and provide a briefing on the progress made and next steps.
3. Engage In #IamMBK Digital Day of Action: On December 14th, take advantage of the #IamMBK Digital Day of Action as an opportunity to inspire members of your community to take an active role in supporting your MBK goals and connecting youth to mentors.
a. Share the Infographic: Lift up the #IamMBK Digital Day of Action and help ignite the conversation by posting an infographic and driving your audience to mentor.gov to get involved.
b. Share a Mentoring Image: Post of an image of a child you’ve mentored or of an individual that has mentored you. Tell your audience a little about that person in your post and direct them to mentor.gov to sign up to become a mentor. Don’t forget to include #IamMBK!
c. Share a video: Record a video/snap telling your audience about the importance of mentorship and encouraging them to get involved in their local MBK community; direct them to mentor.gov to learn more. Don’t forget to include #IamMBK!
d. Mentor for a day: Choose a child to mentor for a day and document this mentor/mentee journey through your social media accounts. Moreover, encourage others to do the same by signing up at mentor.gov. Don’t forget to include #IamMBK!
