LIFE PRINCIPLE OF THE WEEK--OPTIMISM
Definition: To anticipate the possible outcome; a positive attitude.
Mr. Gerald Muhammad---Assistant Principal Spotlight
It was during my early childhood that my mother instilled into me to acquire knowledge to benefit me, requiring that I read a book a week. At a young age, I developed a great respect for educators and the educational system, which is what initially drew my interest to the field. My educational career has allowed me to serve students in many capacities, e.g., teacher, special education coordinator, testing coordinator, principal and assistant principal. I have also been able to participate on various educational committees and have had the honor of making educational presentations to community organizations.
My wife and I keep busy with the activities of two young children. We are also active in Boy Scouts and Habitat for Humanity. My hobbies are reading and enjoying the great outdoors.
My greatest gift is my life, and the greatest thing I can do with my life is give it to help others.
I am excited about being here at Chavez Elementary.

Attendance and Tardies
TRAFFIC SAFETY
* Please use the crosswalk to walk across traffic lanes. Drivers know to watch for crossing traffic at the crosswalks.
* Do not leave cars unattended in any traffic lane. If you must please park in the parking lot.
* Only drop off and pick up students on the inside lane. It is dangerous for students to cross traffic lanes from the outside lane.
* Please do not exceed 5 miles per hour in the traffic lanes. Some of our students are so small that you cannot see them in front of or behind your car.
* Be calm and anticipate traffic delays when you are in a hurry. The safety of all our students depends on all of us doing our part.
Once again, thank you so much for your patience and making safety a priority.
