WELCOME BACK DEEP WOOD DINOS!!!

Big picture

Dear Deep Wood Families,

It is with extreme excitement that I welcome you to the 2018-19 school year! For those of you who are new to Deep Wood, I want you to know that you are coming to an absolutely wonderful place. Our teachers and staff are caring, innovative, and always learning something new for the benefit of your children. We are a collaborative and driven group of educators who love your children, care deeply to meet their needs, and strive to have them reach their highest potential.

This year we will continue our work in creating an environment that is inviting and inclusive for all students, parents, families and community members. Our teachers understand the importance of teaching the whole child and believe it is crucially important to work together to support student academic and social/emotional achievement. We will also continue to focus on creating powerful readers and writers. Our teachers participated in a four day Summer Writing Institute that was led and taught by staff developers from the Teachers College at Columbia University. They are eager to get started sharing what they learned with your children. We truly believe that when our students work together collaboratively, communicate through the written word, lead with integrity, have empathy, and develop a heart to serve others - they will be set apart from their peers and reach high levels of success!

We are thrilled to have students back in the classrooms and hallways filling them with enthusiasm and joy for learning. It was getting pretty lonely up here without them! I love this school deeply and am committed to the Deep Wood community. I firmly believe that all students can reach success. I look forward to partnering with you and your family this year. I am only a phone call or email away if you ever need anything!

Sincerely,

Reba Mussey
