The SLO component comprises 35% of a teacher’s SY 15-16 Teacher Effectiveness Evaluation. The data submission forms are currently available in TSS, and there are electronic resources for your reference.


Please work with your SLO Ambassador to make sure you submit your final student data by the March 24th deadline. The TSS system will close for all teacher access at midnight on Monday, March 28th. If the appropriate student data and form are not uploaded and submitted by the time the system closes you will receive a score of 25 for this component of your evaluation. Teachers who do not submit all data by this deadline will receive a “25” on the SY 15-16 SLO portion of the Teacher Effectiveness Evaluation.

Maryland State Teacher Effectiveness Evaluation Survey

April 6th Deadline to Participate in the Survey


MSDE is collecting feedback from school districts across Maryland about teacher and principal evaluations. The questions in this survey will focus on evaluations overall, with specific questions about teachers’ and principals’ experience with SLOs.


Teachers and principals can access this anonymous electronic survey through the survey link provided by the state. The survey must be completed by April 6th, and should take less than 15 minutes to complete.


Please set aside time to complete the survey. Your feedback will help to improve and refine evaluation instruments and practices, inform MSDE’s work as the TPE system moves forward, and compare change over time.

Instructional Staff Complete VAL-ED Survey

April 15th Deadline: Instructional Staff Complete VAL-ED Survey


The VAL-ED survey is a component of the School Leader Effectiveness Evaluation for principals and it is critical that the appropriate staff have access to the survey and complete it by the April 15th deadline. Those staff members identified as the survey coordinator for your school have already received training resources to help walk you through the VAL-ED survey process. They will also be able to provide you with your anonymous survey link.
