Monday Memo

Great Things!
Fire drills were speedy quick! Nice job!
We had a wonderful Parent Committee and Winter Fest parent planning meeting! Great job Chelsea for organizing community vendors and resources for our families!
I have so enjoyed listening to our read alouds this past week! So much fun to see what you all are doing with your stories!
Arts Partners put on a great show too! The students were attentive and looked like they were enjoying it!
Challenge: Being Present (continued)
By being present, we put ourselves in a position to notice, encourage, and connect with our students and with each other. Often times we are busy moving on to the "next thing" or taking data, or trying to multitask in our busy day that we forget to just be present in the moment. This week, let's put all of that "other stuff" aside and just be present. Enjoy the moments, interact with each other and the students, play and have fun! Really spend time getting to know the kids. Take a moment to connect with that staff member that you don't really know a whole lot about; and when you talk with them, really be present and listen.
Are you willing?

Nuts-n-Bolts:
*Announcements are uploaded and ready to go-Kristin's a.m. kids continue this week.
*GAP Christmas store will be in the gym Dec 5, 6, 9, 10 (no recess in the gym those days)
*Please remember that PDO should be requested 2 weeks in advance. While things occasionally come up and that is understandable, please try to remember the 2 weeks. I have received multiple requests with 1-5 days notice. This can put others in a bind, so please be considerate when scheduling things-and try to give the 2 weeks notice.
*November book shelving duty: Lisa
Speech and Language Tip of the Week:
Play an ‘I Spy’ game with your kids. You can play in your classroom, in the hallway, in the library, while you are lining up, or whenever you want to take a quick learning/language break. ‘I Spy’ activities are great for helping kids to use inferencing skills - which improves verbal reasoning abilities. Teach your kids how to give clues and then see if your kids can give the clues for others to guess what they ‘spy’.
Fine Motor Tip of the Week:
Self Care Skills
Now that it is cooler weather and our students are wearing jackets, think about giving your kids adequate time to put on their coats and zip them up as much as they can by themselves to build self care skills and independence.
