Davenport's Weekly Update
Week of May 15th, 2022
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Greetings Davenport Families!
“Believe you can, and you’re halfway there.” – Theodore Roosevelt
The days are dwindling down and the end of the year is near. It seems like just yesterday we were starting the school year. With so many changes from the beginning of the year to now being able have the students and staff experience fun activities such as field trips, in-person assemblies, and afterschool family events it has been great to see. It’s awesome to see smiling faces and hear the joyful chatter throughout the hallways as the students talk about the fun events they’ve recently experienced. Through every challenge, Davenport stood firm. Thank you to the staff, students, and families that continue to push forward to Finish Strong!
Have a great weekend!

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
Math Majors Hard At Work
Mrs. Dvorsky's students enjoyed creating two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes using toothpicks and marshmallows. They turned a square into a cube and a triangle into a pyramid, and also created a triangular prism.
Choral Festival
On Friday, May 13th, our Davenport Honors Choir hosted EHT's District-Wide Elementary Choral Festival! Our students were joined by the Slaybaugh Singers and the Miller Select Choir. Each group performed their songs and then sang together in a closing number.
Middle School Choir Directors, Mr. Guerrassio and Mrs. Weatherby were also in attendance to give a Choral Workshop and introduce their future students to singing games and group vocal techniques.
Configuring Constellations
GT students continue to study Greek Mythology. This week students learned about constellations. They dropped "stars" on paper and used creative thinking to connect the stars and make their own constellation. They also made a variety of objects and animals such as mermaid tails, dinosaurs and even fighting chipmunks! The students then wrote a myth to explain how their constellation ended up in the night sky.
