Math
Regular Math: We will continue to work on our equations contract. Our focus is balancing equations. Please ask to see your child's contract to see what progress they have made. District wide performance assessment will be given in math this Thursday and Friday. This is not a test they need to "study" for, however, they need to have plenty of rest and be at their best.

Science
This week we will learn about characteristics of ocean water such as composition, subsurface topography, and causes of waves. Small groups will devise a simple experiment to answer the question : Which is more dense, salt or fresh water?
Science Exposition: Students need to continue to work on their science project. Several handouts to aid in the process have been given out, including a rubric for each type of project (scientific inquiry, invention, and environmental innovation). The paper will be due on November 22nd and the display board will be due on December 6th.
Social Studies
We are learning about economic systems and how they work. Students have flash cards they should be using to learn the vocabulary. They can also use our class quislet. It is at: www.quislet.com

Our exam will be our re-test for all social studies tests this semester. Your child will be getting a completed study guide for the exam right after the Thanskgiving Break.
Language Arts
This week in ELA, we'll explore drama and dramatic reading, we'll visit the library, and we'll continue work on our narratives. At this point, students participating in NaNoWriMo should be about halfway done with their narratives, and students not participating in NaNoWriMo should have a complete draft of their narratives. Narratives are due on December 6th.
