Welcome Back from Christmas Break!
Dear AMS Families,
Welcome back! We hope you had a wonderful and restful Christmas break with your loved ones. As we reassemble for the second half of the school year, we reflect on the accomplishments and successes we've achieved together as a community thus far.
A heartfelt thank you to all of you for your unwavering support as we continue strengthening our AMS community. Your involvement and commitment have positively impacted our students' experiences and overall success.
As we transition into the second half of the school year, let's take a moment to celebrate some of our achievements so far.
- Our community has maintained an impressive 97% attendance rate. Additionally, we're proud to report that of the 119 students who have missed ten days or more, we have 17 students who are at risk of being truant.
- We are averaging 2 major office referrals daily, down over 150% from last year's data. We have nine students who have earned 50% of our discipline, and they are all in a tiered support program.
Like a coach addressing a team at halftime, let's build on our successes and set higher expectations for the remainder of the school year. Students must understand the importance of adhering to school rules without repeated warnings. Please remind them that cell phones should remain in their lockers, and unwanted touching, even in jest, will not be tolerated. Instances of unkind behavior will be addressed restoratively, with appropriate discipline implemented. We believe in our community's potential to do even better.
Together, let's continue to foster academic excellence in our AMS community. Parents, your involvement is crucial; reinforce consistent study habits, provide a home environment conducive to learning, and engage in open communication with teachers. Let's set high expectations, provide necessary resources, and cultivate a supportive culture for students to thrive academically and develop resilience.
Thank you once again for being an integral part of the AMS community. We look forward to a successful and fulfilling rest of the school year!
Warmest regards,
Ben Wilson and the AMS Staff

Students After School Supporting our Teams
We are happy to have students support each other at AMS sporting events. It is important that students conduct themselves according to our CORE values (Respectful, Responsible, Safe). Any student who does not exhibit expected behaviors will be asked to leave the event.
Auburn Middle Schools Backpack Program
Our aim is to close the gap in meals for our students between Friday lunch and Monday breakfast by providing food bags over weekends as well as longer breaks during the school year. AMS works with a local business and food bank to help fill this need.
The Friday distribution of food bags is handled in many different ways. We can drop off the bags at the classroom to be picked up by the student, call students down anonymously to the social workers office or be quietly dismissed early to pick up food from a specific location.
Team Achieve runs the Falcon Outlet at Auburn Middle School. It is on the first floor next to the STEM classroom. We have food shelves that can offer relief to hungry students during the school day and students can also shop for sweatshirts, pants, shirts at no cost.
Please click on the link below if your family would like support from the Falcon Outlet. Your response will be confidential and sent to our school social worker, Katherine Kaufmann. CLICK ME

WAYS WE KEEP STUDENTS SAFE AT AMS
Safety is our first priority. This is why we have high expectations for student behaviors. It is why we train to evacuate and we train for intruders. Every staff member has multiple ways to access administration and are capable of making emergency calls as needed.
All the doors are locked all the time, external and internal
Hard wired phones in each room
Cameras that are observed
Secure front entrance
Badged staff
Practice safety measures
Staff members every 10 feet in the building
We do not have unannounced visitors
Bates mentors are trained and have background checks
Staff have multiple communication devices to contact others for immediate assistance
