Information About Green Turtles

The Green Turtles are found on the Coastal Plains of North Carolina of the Southern Atlantic. There Habitats are mostly located on beaches ,open convergent zones, and also coastal areas for benthic feeding. Some threats that have endangered this species are being caught in fishing nets, harvest of eggs and adults, and fibropapillomatosis a disease common in turtles. These events have caused a dramatic decline in the species.

Conservation Efforts

Some of the conservation practices put on fishing equipment are gear modifications, changing fishing practices, and time and area closures. NOAA and fishing industries have partnered to design turtle exclude devices. Many beaches often rope off area of of turtle hatching that they know of to limit human disturbances.
