Principal Remarks
Dear Glacier Peak Families,
Happy Monday to everyone! I hope this newsletter finds you all well and in good health as we are entering the final 2 weeks of the 2019-2020 school year. First of all, I would like to say "thank you" for all the kind messages I received on Friday for Principal Appreciation Day and the amazing videos you have shared for teacher + staff appreciation week. This entire situation has reminded us how much we value the opportunity to work with your child(ren). It is always nice to hear that the work you are doing is making a difference for kids and families. On behalf of Glacier Peak, I would like to thank you for taking the time to make us feel amazing. We know that Glacier Peak is the best because of our amazing kids and families.
It has been eight weeks since our students have been at home away from school. We are missing being able to see them in person on a regular basis. I want to extend a HUGE kudos to our families for all of your tremendous efforts to maintain learning and support for your students to engage in the remote learning platform. I think we all agree that it has been very challenging and it's not the same! However, now that we just completed week six of online virtual learning I want to express that I am so proud of everyone's efforts to jump in full-fledged to make the very best of the situation.
I know there are a lot of questions you may have about what the future holds, including some of the questions below:
- When will students be able to retrieve their belongings? (supplies, yearbooks, etc.)
- Will BASE be open for the summer?
- How can we return library books?
- What is learning going to look like in the fall?
- When and how will we get our student’s report card?
With the information and directives everchanging, we too, are anxiously waiting to get the answers to your questions. As a system, we are working with state and local public health partners to determine what it means for us as a district to close out the year and to begin to prepare for next school year. As of right now, I wish I had more answers for you. As information unfolds, you can be sure I will communicate immediately thereafter so you are prepared for what this means for your family. I do have important updates in this week's news regarding the last 2 weeks of school so be sure to scroll down to read the details.
While we enter the final two weeks of school, we want the students to finish strong with their remote learning efforts and engagement. Learning boards will be shared with families through the final week of school, with the official last day of Thursday, May 21st.
This week's newsletter will include information about how we will be distributing report cards, some information on how students and families can retrieve their belongings, and finally some information about one or two end of the year celebrations. Always remember to reach out to your teachers or myself (or other school personnel) for any support or to ask questions.
Please continue to monitor your emails especially the next two weeks for updated school and district information. You may also want to visit our GPE daily announcements, Facebook page, GPE website for the most updated information for GPE.
As always, please contact me with any questions, clarifications, or concerns.
Respectfully……. Mr. Griffin

Celebrating our 5th Graders
However, we do have a few events in the works because we love our 5th-grade Grizzlies. Stay tuned to your emails as we will be sending out details about our celebration of these fine students! If you would like to be involved, please set aside Thursday, May 21st from 1:00-2:30 p.m. in the afternoon. We have a tentative event planned for that time, but we are waiting for final clearance from the Tri-County Public Health Department before we can share the details.
Thank you!
Report Cards
We will not be mailing or printing report cards at the end of the school year. If you need support with access to the parent portal (Infinite Campus) please do not hesitate to reach out to myself or the front office.
