Highlight of the Main Characters
Charlie Gordon: He is a 38 year old male that is mentally challenged. The Professors at the college he lives at performs an operation that is to increase his intelligence. After the operation it takes about a week for his intelligence to increase and he becomes smarter then the Professor that operated on him. He leaves and takes this mouse with him named Algernon who had the same operation that he had. Charlie starts to break down and his intelligence starts to decrease and he returns to his mentally disabled stage.
Mrs. Kinnian: She is Charlie's teacher at the beginning of the book and she encourages him to try to be the one they perform the operation on. After the operation she teaches Charlie to read and write better than he could before. Then she starts to fall in love with Charlie and they go out on a date. Towards the end of the book She doesn't talk to Charlie a lot until he goes back to his mentally challenged phase.
