We hope that this newsletter finds you and your family well. January was a busy month here at Lehman and February is looking to be so as well. Through our participation with It's Elementary with the Santa Rosa Symphony, all of the students enjoyed a wonderful assembly from a percussion trio. We also received a grant to allow us to take all of our students TK-6th grade, free of charge, to the Green Music Center at Sonoma State University to see the orchestra perform in mid-February. Your child should have brought home a permission slip for you to sign.

We will be instituting a new school policy beginning on February 14th: Students will be asked to remove their hats and hoods upon entering a classroom or other indoor space. The reason why we have decided to make this change is because we know that students learn best when they are actively engaged and participating in their learning. Hats and hoods often act as barriers to this engagement. We have very high expectations for all of our students, and we want to help to prepare them for academic success now and in their futures. We greatly appreciate your support in assisting your child to adhere to this new policy. Please let me know if you have questions.

Important reminders:

• Thank you to those of you who have turned in the Family Needs Survey. Students will received their principal dolphin $ in time for the next Dolphin $ store.
• Healthy Snacks: Students are encouraged to bring individually portioned snacks that are nutritious and support learning. Students are not allowed to have candy, nor gum at school.
• Please have students keep all personal items, toys and sports equipment at home as this avoids a lot of problems and keeps our students focused on their learning.
• "Phones Away During the Day." Not only does this phone policy help to avoid potential problems, it also helps students to remain focused on their learning.

Esperamos que este boletín lo encuentre bien a usted y a su familia. Enero fue un mes ajetreado aquí en Lehman y febrero parece que también lo será. A través de nuestra participación con It's Elementary con la Sinfónica de Santa Rosa, todos los estudiantes disfrutaron de un maravilloso montaje de un trío de percusión. Instituiremos una nueva política escolar a partir del 14 de febrero: Se les pedirá a los estudiantes que se quiten los sombreros y las capuchas al ingresar a un salón de clases u otro espacio interior. La razón por la que hemos decidido hacer este cambio es porque sabemos que los estudiantes aprenden mejor cuando están activamente comprometidos y participando en su aprendizaje. Recordatorios importantes:

• Gracias a aquellos de ustedes que han entregado la Encuesta de las Necesidades Familiares. Los estudiantes recibirán su $ delfín principal a tiempo para la próxima tienda de $ delfín.
  
• Meriendas Saludables: Se alienta a los estudiantes a traer meriendas en porciones individuales que sean nutritivas y apoyen el aprendizaje. A los estudiantes no se les permite tener dulces ni el chicle en la escuela.
• Pida a los estudiantes que mantengan todos los artículos personales, juguetes y equipos deportivos en casa, ya que esto evita muchos problemas y mantiene a nuestros estudiantes enfocados en su aprendizaje.
• "Teléfonos guardados durante el día". Esta política telefónica no solo ayuda a evitar posibles problemas, sino que también ayuda a los estudiantes a mantenerse enfocados en su aprendizaje.
