What's Happening at Rockwood Prep?

April 2023

Message from the Principals!

Time is flying by! We are coming up on the end of Quarter 3, so please be sure that you are connected to ParentVue and getting daily/weekly updates on your child's academic progress. Conference sign ups are on their way so please be on the look out for those. Just a reminder, yearbooks can still be purchased directly through LifeTouch. We are excited to welcome new kindergartners at Kindergarten round up on April 10th at 4:00pm, so if you have a soon-to-be 5 year old, or know of family and friends who do, please pass the message along! Last but not least, a quick update on our building progress: New floors are in, fresh paint is up, and the upper elementary building is just about finished! Work on the main building will continue through the remainder of the school year. All classrooms and offices now have mini-splits providing heat and air conditioning, and we are officially off of the old boiler system! Lots of progress is being made, and we truly appreciate your support in this ongoing improvement process!

There will be links posted for parents/guardians to sign up. We are ready to keep working hard writing/reading sentences. Becoming experts in addition and subtraction and advancing our counting skills! Time sure does fly by, let's make the rest of the school year a memorable one!

First Grade

Hi first grade families! Welcome back from Spring Break! We are excited to meet with you in person for Spring conferences on the 27th and 28th, please see your child's class Dojo page for a sign up link! Let's have a great last quarter and finish out first grade strong.

Second Grade

Hello all!! We have reached so many milestones since the last update! We made it to our 100th day of school and through spring break! We've worked so hard on reading, our spelling and in math : comparison problems, recognizing shapes and number families. Conferences are soon approaching, please keep a look out on Class Dojo for more info!😊

Third Grade

Hello Spring! We have been keeping busy and are trying to get as much learning in before testing starts next month! Make reading a priority at home, it will really help them finish the year strong! Conferences are also just around the corner, please be on the lookout for the link posted to Dojo soon, we look forward to meeting with all of you!

Fourth Grade

4th grade welcomes spring and Quarter 3 conferences! Please be sure to sign up on the link posted on your teacher's Class Dojo. Quarter 3 conferences will be held April 27th and 28th. In math, students are continuing hard work on angles and are learning that percentages are hundredths numbers in math. Reading has been fun and students will read more Greek myths as well as the folk tale “Beauty and the Beast.” Language is going well and students are learning to write informational essays as well as narratives. Don’t forget there’s no school for students April 26th, 27th, and 28th. We look forward to seeing you at Spring Conferences to discuss your child's progress and growth as we head into the 4th and final quarter of 4th grade! Cordially, Mrs. Brown and Mr. Morgan

Fifth Grade

Spring Break has now come and gone and now we can (at the risk of jinxing the whole thing) look forward to improved weather conditions. Conferences will be held later this month (27th & 28th) and these will represent the final conferences of your child's elementary school career. They will be a good opportunity to get a snapshot of where your kiddo stands in regards to middle school success. We're looking forward to it. Otherwise, we're business as usual. Happy Spring!
