June 2021

The word of the month is CITIZENSHIP

From the Principal, Ms. Nora Sullivan

It is hard to believe June is here and we are in the homestretch leading up to summer vacation. As we approach the final month of school, I want to congratulate all of our 4th grade students (in-person and virtual) who will be moving upward and onward next year. We have 93 students in the fourth grade class who will be entering the middle school year! On Wednesday, June 2nd, the students had the opportunity to meet a few 5th grade teachers from Lisha Kill Middle School, along with their new Principal, Mrs. Lindsay Tresansky. We wish them the best of luck and success in 5th grade come fall!

The final PTA meeting for the year will be held on Monday, June 7th at 6:30 pm. Please join us as we wrap up the year and begin to plan for next year. The Scholastic Book Fair is virtual this year and will be held until June 14 . Our modified Field Day will take place rain or shine on Friday, June 11th.

This may be the last Smores' newsletter since the district is adopting a new platform for all messaging and communication starting in the fall. The new platform will be Parent Square and it is our goal to unify all of our communications and engage our parents and families under one platform. More information will follow about Parent Square but I am learning that it is user friendly and can send reminders, surveys, post alerts, and share photos and videos.

As we finish strong, I want you to know how proud I am of all the students this year who came to school ready to learn while adhering to all of the CDC restrictions. The students wore their masks, they distanced and washed their hands daily. They demonstrated perseverance and a willingness to work together in conjunction with their teachers. The staff and I were extremely proud of their extraordinary sense of cooperation and teamwork. I also want to commend all of our virtual students who learned remotely from home and applaud of all the parents, grandparents and caregivers who supported their learning. We missed them and can't wait to see them return to Veeder in September!

Please look for our summer library hours at Veeder to sign out books and keep the love of reading alive in your homes during July and August. Information about the upcoming school year, along with teacher placements will be shared in mid-August. Have a Happy and Safe Summer! ~Ms. Sullivan

You can pay for your child’s meals from the comfort of your home using the MySchoolBucks website – a secure online service that lets you pre-pay for meals online using a credit card or debit card.
