Ms. Cooper - Savvy School Counselor
During all of this time I was single, married, divorced, and remarried to create the crazy family I have now (6 kids!). In the evenings and on weekends I like to go to Mass at St. Cecilia's, walk my dogs, scrapbook, binge Netflix, head to the beach, kayak and go camping. Fall is my favorite season, orange is my favorite color and I love my morning cup of coffee. That's me in the picture in the center surrounded by 4 of my children, my husband, my sister and niece.
I love working at Fairlead because it is rewarding to see students who struggle in middle school turn it around to be successful in high school. I look forward to meeting each of you in person and getting to know your story.
Ms. Foote - Persistent Pupil Personnel Worker
Hello Fairlead Academy students!
Welcome back to Fairlead Academy. I hope you have a wonderful school year! I'm the PPW (Pupil Personnel Worker) assigned to your school. My goal is to assist you with resources that you and your family might need to help you maintain excellent school attendance this year. I frequently contact families to help them navigate all of the community resources in St. Mary's County. I work at the Dept. of Student Services, and my contact information is by email - ehfoote@smcps.org or by phone - 301-475-4200 ext. 71686. Please let me know if I can help in any way to help make this a terrific school year!
Take care,
Ms. Foote
Ms. Shryock - Serene School Social Worker
Hi! I’m Mrs. Shryock and I’m the School Social Worker at Fairlead Academy I & II. I grew up on the Eastern Shore in Queen Anne’s County. I went to Salisbury State University where I obtained my Bachelor’s in Social Work and then went on to University of Maryland at Baltimore to get a Master’s in Social Work. I have 20 years of social work experience. I have worked in Child Welfare, a hospital emergency room, and in home health. I met my wonderful husband while at Salisbury State University and we have four sons. They make me laugh every day and make my days brighter! One of my favorite things to do is watch them play sports.
I’m very excited to be a part of the Fairlead Academy family and having the opportunity to work with students who may be struggling academically due to mental or behavioral health issues. I'm available to meet with students for counseling and when they are experiencing a crisis while at school. I can also assist students and families when a student is returning to school after being hospitalized for mental health reasons. Students can be referred to the Counseling Program either by self-referral, a staff member at his/her school, community agency, or parent.
