The Mission of McMillan Magnet Center is to academically challenge students and to promote student ownership of learning in a safe, diverse, and respectful environment.
The Vision of McMillan Magnet Center is to:
· Collaborate with school, family, and community-based partners.
· Provide an innovative, project-based, cross-curricular school setting.
· Integrate components of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math through Project Lead the Way (PLTW).

AQUESTT Reclassifies McMillan to a School in Good Standing.
Below are some of the highlights that lifted our school from “Needs Improvement” to “Good,” after our EBA evidence was submitted and reviewed.
Areas of Strength
ASSESS 2S (Score = 3.83): Teachers utilize a balanced assessment system that includes formative, interim, and summative assessments to inform instruction, monitor progress, and evaluate student learning for all content areas and grade levels.
ASSESS 4S (Score = 3.83): Written standards-driven grading policies are shared with students and parents.
CCCR 2S (Score = 3.83): The school integrates the Nebraska Career Readiness Standards into all content areas.
CCCR 3S (Score = 3.83): The school provides students with the opportunity to acquire and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, actions, and dispositions that citizens in a republic need to fulfill obligatory civic rights and responsibilities.
EDOP 1S (Score = 3.86): The school offers students before school or after school opportunities for expanded learning.
EDOP 3S (Score = 3.86): The school's continuous improvement process includes strategies to support the learning of all students.
EDOP 4S (Score = 3.86): The school aligns educational opportunities to the needs of all students.

Girls Swimming City Finals
Congratulations on a wonderful season and making it to the City Finals. Team members where, Cybrianna Peioples, Naomi Long, Danielle Minard, Amani Sturdemeier, Audra Morrison, Melissa Bateman, Sonja Swanson, Keeyma Smith, Alexix Carbonell-Smith, Kaylee Burnside, Breah Bond, Kavayah Long, La’Nie Green, Achelem Mensah, Sofia Acosta and Nevaeh Kern-Calloway. A special shout out goes out to Naomi Long who placed 2 in the 50 yard butterfly and 100 yard freestyle. Alexis Carbonell Smith placed 5th in the 100 yard and 50 yard freestyle and Kaylee Burnside who placed 4th in the 100 yard backstroke. Go Monarchs!

High School Selection Open House / SELECCIÓN DE PREPARATORIA 2020-2021
The Student Assignment Plan allows eighth grade students an opportunity to attend any OPS High School beginning with their 9th grade year, providing space is available. Students are guaranteed placement at their home attendance area high school if this school is selected in January.
TRANSPORTATION:
Please note that students may be eligible to receive transportation to some, not all high schools. Students who change school placement after the selection process has been completed may not be eligible to receive transportation.
OPEN HOUSE: Before making your selection, we suggest attending the Open Houses held at the high schools. The schedule is:

SCHOOL SELECTION: Every 8th grade student will receive a selection form from his/her middle school in early January 2020. Every student must return his/her selection form to their middle school by January 29, 2020. Students will register for high school classes at their current middle schools in March.

La Plan de Asignación Estudiantil permite a los estudiantes de 8vo grado asistir a cualquiera de las preparatorias de OPS a partir del 9no grado, siempre cuando haya espacio disponible. Se les garantiza a los estudiantes cupo en la escuela preparatoria de su área de domicilio si esta escuela fue seleccionada en enero.

SELECCIÓN DE ESCUELA: A finales de enero del 2020, todo estudiante de 8avo grado recibirá un formulario de selección, en su secundaria. Cada estudiante deberá de regresar el formulario de selección a su escuela secundaria antes del 29 de enero del 2020. En marzo, los estudiantes se inscribirán a las clases de preparatoria en su actual escuela.
