WBMS Friday Notes
February 4-8
Reflections from Ms. Perkins
WBMS Parents and Guardians –
Last weekend was outstanding! Aladdin Jr. truly wowed crowds, our Robotics team won state, and our Spelling Bee representative made it to the top 15. This week I observed problem-solving, thoughtful discussions, and critical thinking in our classrooms. Watching our students deliberate, analyze, and question ideas, theories, and real-world problems is the best part of my day. Their wheels are always turning. While WBMS students can be super silly, they can also be wonderfully inquisitive!
Thank you to all who came out Thursday night to learn more about the course placement process. Materials from the evening are included in this week’s Friday Notes. Remember course recommendation forms are due back next Tuesday.
Next week WBMS and AHS will embark on our first #OneAlpharetta Kindness Week! Each day both students and staff will celebrate the act of being gracious through daily activities. Please help your student remember to wear red, purple, or pink on Wednesday and bring two cans to donate to North Fulton Charities on Thursday. We want to spread kindness throughout our building and community!
Have a wonderful weekend, Jaguars!

Webb Bridge MS 7th grade parents and community!
The 7th grade is headed to the JA Discovery Center Finance Park in Gwinnett on February 20, 21 and April 9, 2019.
Junior Achievement Volunteers Needed: We will need 10-15 volunteers on each day (February 20, 21 and April 9, 2019). You can go on a different day than your child if it works better for your schedule. As a volunteer you will be working directly with the students in each ‘store’ at Finance Park. Volunteers are required to report at the JA Discovery Center at the Gwinnett Discovery Center at 8:30 am for training. Volunteers will not ride the bus with us, but we can help you work out carpools with other parent volunteers on that day. You may also ask friends or co-workers. All volunteers must be verified through the Fulton County Volunteer registration process, which takes up to two days to process.

Your child has a dream, a vision for what their future can be. The JA Discovery Center provides students with opportunities to make those dreams a reality. There, your child will partake in a best in class simulation experience that will give them the tools to own their own economic success.
In the classroom they will have learned the fundamental skills they’ll need for this day, all that is missing is YOU to bring it all home! We would like to extend the invitation. Come along and support your student and their classmates. As a parent/community volunteer, you will not only share your life experiences to mentor and coach students through their day but you will also help the days learning transcend past the JA Discovery Center visit. We welcome all professions, your life experience and determination to succeed means you can serve as a volunteer. If you have ever had a job or paid a bill…you are the PERFECT volunteer!

FBLA
This week was full of excitement as we celebrated “FBLA Spirit Week” with daily activities. Members received their official membership cards as well as a copy of “Tomorrow’s Business Leader” FBLA magazine. We made community service posters and played business Quizlet Live, each morning ending with a small prize drawing! On Friday we held our general meeting with guest speakers from Alpharetta High School’s FBLA organization who spoke on the importance of community service participation. Our daily FBLA trivia question on the Jaguar Morning News rounded out a fun-filled week!
Our next step is to hold our State Leadership Conference online testing next Monday, February 11 at 7:30 a.m. We ask that those participating arrive at the school at 7:20 for an on-time start.
