Car Depreciation Project
By: Jack Rathe and Laurence Fairchild
Car Types
We researched four different types of two door trucks, the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500 and Toyota Tundra.
The depreciation of each car
We used exponential regression in on the calculator to find the depreciation rate of each car. Here is the graph of all four makes of car and the equation that goes with them.
Ford F-150- Green
Chevrolet Silverado- Purple
GMC Sierra- Orange
Toyota Tunda- Black
The car we would recommend
The Toyota Tundra would be the best car to buy because it holds it value the best. The 2014 model only depreciates 4.921% in the first year, after 12,000 miles. It is also a cool car
Questions
1. We think that the easiest part of this project was finding the pictures of the cars and finding the prices of the cars.
2. We think that finding the rate of depreciation was the hardest part.
3. We think that we should have combined and worked faster when we were finding the prices of the cars.
4. We learned how to find an exponential function and how to calculate a regression.
5. The most important thing we learned was how to find an exponential function and how to calculate a regression.
6. It did a little bit but we were off by a couple thousand dollars, but we were pretty close for our predictions.
