August Social Emotional Learning Module: Responsible Decision Making

Responsible Decision Making is the ability to make constructive respectful choices about personal behavior and social interactions. An important aspect of student development is to learn how to autonomously make responsible decisions. In order to learn this skill students need to be presented with choices in a variety of contexts and situations.

SEL Book of the Month

But It's Not My Fault (Responsible Me) by Julia Cook

My name is Norman David Edwards but everybody calls me Noodle. Sometimes things happen to me that get me into trouble. But it's not my fault! This first book in the new Responsible Me! Series, follows Noodle through a very rough day at school. It just isn't his fault that his brother's game ran late and he didn't finish his homework. Or that his mom forgot to remind him to turn in his library book. Or that Mary Gold got in his airspace and hit his arm with her head... Join Noodle on his journey as he learns not to blame others or try to find fault; but instead practices accepting responsibility, and turns his very rough day into a very good NEW day!

Please enjoy this read-aloud of our August SEL Book of the month

Ned's Kindness Adventure will have an assembly at Rock Chapel on August 22, 2019, in the gym for grades 1 - 5.

Ned’s world-class performers will bring this unforgettable adventure to our school. Using storytelling, music, interactive videos, magical illusions, and audience participation, our students will go on a journey to Africa.

NED's Kindness Adventure assembly support initiatives for developing a positive and caring school climate. Its proactive approach aims to prevent many forms of mistreatment, including bullying, by showcasing the sense of satisfaction that takes place when a child chooses to show kindness, respect, and acceptance.

- Update -

Below we have a few pictures of the event. Rock Chapel students learned that kindness towards others can lead to the acceptance and respect of individuals from different places and cultures.
